Nikah in Islam
Nikah, the Islamic marriage contract, is a sacred commitment between a man and a woman based on mutual respect, love, companionship, and responsibility. In Islam, marriage provides a foundation for building a family and a life together while fulfilling important religious and social responsibilities.
The Nikah ceremony formalizes the marriage according to Islamic principles and marks the beginning of a shared journey built upon faith, compassion, and mutual commitment.
Our Nikah Services
The Islamic Society of Michiana (ISM) provides Nikah services for members of the Muslim community. Our Imam can officiate Nikah ceremonies at the masjid or, when appropriate, at an external venue.
We aim to make the process clear and meaningful for couples and their families while ensuring that the necessary Islamic and local requirements are addressed.
Registration Requirements
Marriage License
Couples must obtain a valid marriage license from the appropriate local authority in accordance with Indiana law.
Consultation with the Imam
Couples should contact the ISM Imam before scheduling their Nikah to discuss the requirements, ceremony details, and available dates.
